String of Needles Driftwood & Jaw Bone Mount

This mounted, living sculpture is made with String of Needles, locally harvested and sterilized driftwood, and a jaw bone from a small mammal found in the woods of Iowa,  mounted using kokedama practices with soil, sphagnum moss, and binding.

String of Needles require bright, indirect light and watering when the moss dries. Check for dryness approximately 3 times per week and water when needed by running water over the entire mount, or soaking for a few minutes in a bucket, sink, or vessel that will hold water and the mount easily. Allow to drip dry slightly before hanging again to avoid excess water dripping on your walls or floor. Another way to check for watering is to observe the individual leaves, they wrinkle slightly when they need water and become more flexible.
