Ficus elastica, commonly called a “Rubber Plant” is named for its milky, latex sap that exudes from its plant parts when broken, cut, or damaged. The color is a deep and moody burgundy, setting itself apart from the other green plants in its presence. New growth tips can be vivid red.
GENERAL CARE
Ficus enjoy bright light and watering when the top few inches of the soil feel dry. Pot in a well-draining, chunky soil mix. Avoid overwatering and avoid extreme temperatures to keep them from dropping leaves. Once in a happy spot, keep it there! Ficus do not enjoy being moved around once in their happy place.
