Gymnocalycium mihanovichii has interesting, deep red and green hortizontal patterning between it’s ribs, giving it a very distinctive appearance.
This species is native to South America and grow in shady locations, hiding under grasses and shrubs.
Like most cacti, they are slow growing and prefer bright, indirect sunlight (6+ hours daily) and watering only when soil is completely dry. Pot in a well-draining cactus/succulent soil mix. If growing outdoors during the summer months, place in a slightly shaded location to prevent scorching.
